To obtain a new compound useful as a controlling agent of a plant disease for agriculture and horticulture.
This new compound is the compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 0-2; Xm is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a halogen, OH, a 1-15C alkoxy or benzyloxy, or forms a phenyl or a naphthyl having methylenedioxy with the phenyl; (m) is 1-5], e.g. 3-(2,4-dichlorophenethyl)-pyridine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (hat is a halogen) with triphenylphosphine, further reacting the product with a compound of formula III and further reducing the product. The compound of formula I is effective for controlling rice leaf blotch, rice blast disease, barley mildew, wheat red rust, cucumber gray mold, apple black point, etc.
