Abstract:

To provide a novel 4-methyl-1-pentene-based random copolymer which is crystalline in a wide temperature range, has high crystallinity, and is excellent in heat resistance and transparency and to provide a method for manufacturing it.

The 4-methyl-1-pentene-based random copolymer is a random copolymer of 4-methyl-1-pentene and a 5-8C -olefin other than 4-methyl-1-pentene, consists of 40-99 mol% of 4-methyl-1-pentene and 1-60 mol% of the above -olefin, and has an intrinsic viscosity [] of 0.5-6 dl/g, a melting point [Tm] of 110-240C, and a crystallinity of 15-54%.
