Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a 5α-reductase inhibitor safely applicable to the skin, having high 5α-reductase inhibiting action and effective for hair-growing.
CONSTITUTION: This 5α-reductase inhibitor contains a solvent extract of at least one kind of plant selected from Sumilax zeylanica, Phyllanthus nuriri, Woodfordia fruticosa, Lagerstroemia speciosa and Cymbopogon nardus. The extraction solvent is water or a hydrophilic organic solvent (e.g. ethanol, methanol or acetone) and especially preferably water, ethanol or their mixture. A hair-growing agent compounded with the inhibitor exhibits remarkable hair- growing effect.
