To provide an adsorbent for IgG purification utilizing a novel peptide or protein having bindability to the Fc fragment of IgG and to provide a method for purifying IgG.
The Fc fragment of IgG of an animal origin is used as a target substance. The amino acid sequence of a peptide having bindability to the target substance is identified by screening by a pharge display method. A peptide obtained in this way and having an amino acid sequence represented by sequence numbers 1 to 164 or having an amino acid sequence obtained by subjecting to modification or the substitution, insertion, and/or elimination of amino acid residues within the scope not detrimental to the bindability to the Fc fragment of IgG in the amino acid sequence is immobilized on a carrier as an affinity ligand, and IgG is purified by using it.
