Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an absorbent of a high performance and large rejection capacity at room temperature by using calcium sulfate, calcium hydroxide, active carbon and amorphous carbon as the absorbent for nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide.

CONSTITUTION: Calcium sulfate, calcium hydroxide, active carbon, amorphous carbon and water are kneaded, formed into compacts of a certain shape and heat treated at a temperature not higher than 300°C afterward. Then comparatively large continuous pores are formed, through which nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide come into the compact, and part of them react with calcium hydroxide nearby the pores. The rest of them further diffuse into fine pores of active carbon and there react with calcium hydroxide. An absorbent, which has a high rate and large capacity of rejection at room temperature and is suitable for an air cleaning filter, is thus obtained.
