An acceleration detection device is provided with an acceleration sensor 1 for outputting an acceleration proportional signal that is proportional to acceleration, sensor amplifiers 8a-8c for amplifying the acceleration proportional signal, and a power supply 9 consisting of a battery. A piezoelectric type acceleration sensor with a piezoelectric ceramics element for generating a self-generation polarization electric charge in response to internal stress based on acceleration without requiring power supply from the power supply 9 is used. A power-saving circuit 7 is provided, where the circuit 7 electrically connects the power supply 9 to sensor amplifiers 8a-8c for a specific time interval after the piezoelectric acceleration sensor 1 outputs at least a specific level and electrically separating the power supply 9 from the sensor amplifiers 8a-8c in the other cases.
