PURPOSE: To provide a novel compound which exhibits inhibitory activities against biosynthesis of leucotriene and is useful for the treatment of allergic symptoms and various kinds of inflammatory symptoms.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a compound of formula I [wherein R1 add R2 together form -A2-X2-A3-(wherein A2 and A3 are each 1-3C alkylene; and X2 is oxy, thio, sulfinyl or the like); R3 is 1-4C alkyl; R4 is 1-4C alkyl; R5 is H or 1-4C alkyl; Ar1 is phenylene, pyridinediyl or the like; A1 is 1-4C alkylene or the like; X1 is oxy, thio, sulfonyl or the like; Ar2 is thiophenediyl, furandiyl, thiazolediyl or the like], e.g. N-methyl-4'-{[4(4S)-2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4- yl]thien-2-ylthio}acetanilide. The compound of formula I is obtained by coupling a compound of the formula R4CON(R5)-Ar1-A1-Z (wherein Z is a replaceable group) with a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is useful as a therapeutic agent of allergic symptoms, psoriasis, asthma, cardiovascular disorders, cerebrovascular disorders, arthritis or the like.
