Abstract:
PURPOSE: To lessen antimony poisoning by installing a separator made of a microporous plastic or glass fiber between an anode and a cathode and forming a natural or synthetic rubber layer which is not cross-linked in the side face of the separator. CONSTITUTION: A separator made of a finely porous plastic, glass fiber, cellulose type sheet is installed between an anode and a cathode of a lead-sulfuric acid storage battery. A rubber-containing layer is formed by coating a liquid slurry containing natural or synthetic rubber with is not cross-linked, silica, and water to the side face of the anode plate side of the separator and dry it. Since the separator made of a microporous plastic or glass fiber has excellent chemical stability and low electric resistance and due to the formation of the rubber- containing laver, poisoning performance by antimony is reduced and charging top performance of the battery is improved.
