To provide an active energy ray-curable aqueous resin composition which has little problems of environmental health and is excellent in hardness, adhesion, and chemical resistance.
Under a condition shutting off active energy rays, a mixture of a carboxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer (a) selected from among acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid, and itaconic acid, a photosensitizer (b) having a polymerizable unsaturated group, an unsaturated monomer (c) containing a reactive functional group, and other unsaturated monomers (d) copolymerizable with these components is copolymerized. The obtained copolymer is subjected to addition reaction with a compound (e) containing a carbon-carbon unsaturated double bond reactable with (c) to obtain a polymer compound (A) containing two or more carbon-carbon unsaturated double bonds, one or more photosensitive functional groups generating radicals by active energy rays, and one or more carboxyl groups in one molecule. Subsequently, the carboxyl groups in the polymer compound (A) are neutralized with a base. In this case, the compounds (c), (e) have a certain combination. There is also provided a mixture of the multifunctional unsaturated monomer or an oligomer (B) with the polymer compound (A).
