Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material for batteries which enables the materialization of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery capable of showing a high capacity-keeping rate even after a cycle and suppressing the rise in resistance value owing to the cycle.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, an active material 40 for batteries is provided. The active material 40 for batteries comprises: composite materials 41; and a binding phase 45 located among the composite materials 41. The composite materials 41 include active material particles 42 and a coating layer 43 covering each active material particle. The coating layer 43 includes at least one material selected from hydroxyalkyl cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose. The binding phase 45 includes at least one material selected from polyvinylidene fluoride, styrene butadiene rubber and acrylic polymer.
