The actuator is constituted, for example, as a structure for driving the wire 2 by a driving element 3 which generates linear motion of a magnetostriction element or the like, with including a first rotator 52 and a second rotator 62 set freely rotatably on the same axis, a first power transmission mechanism 51 and a second power transmission mechanism 61. The first power transmission mechanism 51 transmits the linear motion generated at the driving element 3 to the first rotator 52 at a first rotation radius position, thereby converting the motion to a rotatory motion. The second power transmission mechanism 61 transmits the rotatory motion of the second rotator 62 to the wire 2 at a position of a second rotation radius larger than the first rotation radius, thereby converting the motion to a linear motion. For example, a rack and pinion mechanism and a link mechanism can be used for the first and the second power transmission mechanisms 51 and 61. Moreover, an angle between the transmission side of the power and the side to be transmitted is made freely variable. Thus the free arrangement between the driving element 3 as the driving source and the wire 2 is enabled.
