Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for steel which is excellent in desulfurizing performance, in particular, which is a calcium alminate based, contains no fluorine component and has a desulfurizing ratio in the initial stage equal to or higher than that of the CaO-CaF2 based additive.
SOLUTION: The additive for steel contains 3CaO-Al2O3 and 12CaO-7Al2O3, wherein a crystal grain diameter of 3CaO-Al2O3 is ≤50 μm. Further, the additive is characterized in that the aditive contains 20-97 mass% 3CaO-Al2O3, 3-80 mass% 12CaO-7Al2O3, ≤10 mass% (including 0%) free CaO and ≤1 mass% Fe and the crystal grain diameter of 3CaO-Al2O3 is ≤50μm.
