PURPOSE: To provide an adhesive compsn. consisting of a specified aminoplast resin, powdered condensation type tannin and extender and/or filler, which has excellent temporary adhesive property and minimizes emission of formaldehyde from plywood.

CONSTITUTION: The adhesive compsn. is prepd. by mixing 0.3W15pts.wt. neutral to weakly acidic condensation type tannin (A) in powder which has a particle size of 40 mesh or smaller and produces 40wt% aqueous soln. having a viscosity of 100W10,000cP and extender (B) (e.g. wood flour) and/or filler (e.g. talc) having a particle diameter of 40 mesh or smaller and used in such an amt. that A/B may be 5/95W70/30 by weight, into 100pts.wt. aminoplast resin having a free formaldehyde content of 2% or lower. Veneers having a water content of 15W 35wt% are bonded together with the adhesive compsn. to produce a plywood.
