Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve performance for adsorption of uranium and the rate for adsorption of uranium with respect to an adsorbent which adsorbs uranium from sea water, etc. by freeze drying a system contg. a titanic acid and water and preparing the titanic acid uranium adsorbent which has larger loss in weight at high temp. than at low temp.

CONSTITUTION: A system contg. a titanic acid and water is prepd. by thermal hydrolysis or neutralization by an alkali of a titanium soln. such as titanium sulfate, titanium tetrachloride or the like. The neutralization or hydrolysis is accomplished preferably in such a way that the final pH attains 2W3.5. Said system contg. the titanic acid and water is freeze-dried and the titanic acid uranium adsorbent which has larger loss in weight at high temp. than at low temp is prepd. The above-described system contg. the titanic acid and water is a soln., sol, etc. contg. both thereof, and a carrier, a molding assistant, etc. may be present in this system. Activated carbon, silica, etc. are usable as the carrier.
