Title:
ADSORBENT AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING CARBON ISOTOPE USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004230267
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain an adsorbent capable of separating carbon isotope from a material safely and stably supplied since harmful CO gas is not used and capable of easily separating/adsorbing a stable isotope 13C without using a large amount of coolant as in a low temperature distillation method, and to provide a method for separating the carbon isotope using the same.

An inorganic porous substance such as zeolite and meso-porous silicate is used as the adsorbent for the carbon isotope (13C isotope) in a lower hydrocarbon such as methane. The carbon isotope is separated to obtain 13C isotope by contacting the lower hydrocarbon containing at least the carbon isotope with an inorganic porous substance such as zeolite and meso-porous silicate and selectively adsorbing the carbon isotope (13C isotope) in the lower hydrocarbon.
