Abstract:
PURPOSE: To dispense with the enlargement or the like of a device and reduce time loss during aftertreatment by letting a sheet in a lower stage carrier path stand-by temporarily while aftertreatment is applied to sheets on an aftertreatment plate, and then discharging this sheet simultaneously with a sheet in an upper stage carrier path.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of performing the bookbinding of plural copies, while applying specified binding treatment to the sheets S of a first copy on a staple plate 46, a following first sheet S1 conveyed from the body side is conveyed through a main path 41c, and then the rotation of a carrier roller 43 is stopped to temporarily stop the conveyance of the sheet S1. A second sheet S2 is then conveyed through a by-pass 41b by the changeover of a deflector 44 so as to buy the time for conveying the first sheet S and thereby to reduce time loss during the binding time of the sheets S. The conveyance of the sheet S1 is then resumed by restarting the rotation of the carrier roller 43, and the sheet S1 and the sheet S2 are synchronously discharged onto the plate 46 after discharging the sheets S. When the second sheet S2 is not conveyed to the by-pass 41b due to no-sheet or a jam, the sheet S1 stopped at the main path 41c is discharged immediately.
