Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-actingly controllable air bearing cylinder directions. SOLUTION: In the inside of a cylinder block 6, a cylinder chamber 7 and a rod-inserting hole 8 are formed, and a rod 9 is inserted into the rod-inserting hole 8. The rod 9 is supported by bearing members 13, 14, from which pressurized air is jetted, in non-contact manner. In an air bearing cylinder 4 which is formed as mentioned above, a region 21 which generates a thrust for advancing the rod 9 relative to the cylinder block 6 is formed, and a stepped part 9c which generates a thrust for retreating the rod 9, is formed in the rod 9. Then, when control air is allowed to act on the region 21 through the first thrust port 19 formed in the cylinder block 6, the rod 9 is advanced, and when control air is allowed to act on the stepped part 9c through the second thrust port 20 formed in the cylinder block 6, the rod 9 is retreated. Thus, the air bearing cylinder 4 is double-actingly controllable directions.
