To provide an air conditioner in which an air conditioning efficiency is improved by controlling a pressure of a transferring medium in a thermal transfer circuit to a range of specified times of the critical pressure.
During a cooling operation, a transferring medium (b) is forcedly fed from a transferring medium driving device 5 to a heat source side heat exchanger 7 as indicated by a solid line and cooled by it, thereafter heat exchanged by a heat exchanger 6 at a utilizing side so as to cool indoor air and in turn during heating operation, the transferring medium (b) is forcedly fed from the transferring medium driving device 5 at a high temperature as indicated by a dotted line to the heat exchanger 6 at the utilizing side, heat exchanged there so as to discharge heat. During heating operation, a pressure of the transferring medium (b) in the thermal transferring circuit is set to be a range of 1.0 to 1.8 times of its critical pressure so as to improve an efficiency of the device.
