To provide an airbag device for a front passenger seat, which is capable of stably applying reaction force to the upper body of an occupant from the airbag in the restriction of the occupant by the airbag even when the airbag is provided in the middle part of an instrument panel in a vertical direction.
The airbag 22 has a glass interference part 22A interfering with a windshield glass 24 in inflation and expansion. The glass interference part 22A is constituted so that the top part 22A1 of the airbag 22 is located in the more vehicle front side rather than a virtual vertical surface A extending in the vehicle vertical direction passing through the rear end 12D of an instrument panel 12 when the airbag 22 is inflated and expanded in a state that the windshield glass 24 is removed from a vehicle body. When the airbag 22 is inflated and expanded, the root part of the airbag 22 is vertically held between the instrument panel 12 and the windshield glass 24 to receive the reaction force from both sides and escape of the airbag to the lower side of the vehicle is suppressed.
