Abstract:
To provide a silicon-aluminum alloy, having heat resistance, toughness, and excellent plating suitability as well as low thermal expansion characteristic and wear resistance and capable of giving an ingot of ≥100 mm diameter by continuous casting, and its production.
The aluminum alloy has a composition containing, by weight, 11.0-<12.5% Si, 0.5-1.5% Fe, 0.5-2.0% Ni, and 0.2-0.5% Ti. The process for the production of this aluminum alloy has, in succession, a stage of casting by continuous casting, a stage of softening heat treatment, a stage of extrusion under the conditions of ≥6 extrusion ratio and 450°C temp., and a stage of solution heat treatment and aging treatment.
