Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an Al alloy material good in wear resistance and fretting resistance and capable of sliding with mutual Al alloys or with steel, without requiring surface treatment by incorporating a specific amt. of B powder into a heat treatment type Al alloy.

CONSTITUTION: In 100 pts.wt., heat treatment type Al alloy such as JIS2014, 0.1 to 5 pts. B powder is incorporated and if required, at least one kind of the powder of nitrides, borides and iron compounds is incorporated therein. As the nitrides, AlN, TiN, ZrN or the like are used, as the borides, TiB2, NiB, MgB2 or the like are used, and as the iron compounds, Fe3C, Fe4N, FeP or the like are used, and the average grain size D50 of these powder is preferably regulated to about 2.0 to 10μm. These B powder and the other powder are mixed with the heat treatment type Al alloy powder by prescribed quantity, which is subjected to cold premolding, hot extrusion and heat treatment and is thereafter molded into a desired shape, by which the Al alloy material excellent in wear resistance and fretting resistance can be obtd.
