Title:
AMORPHOUS SILICA PARTICLES OF REGULAR PHASE AND PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3647959
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain amorphous silica particles of regular shape having controlled pore distribution by firing amorphous silica particles of a regular shape having a specified specific surface area and a specified pore volume and practically free form macropores in a specified temp. range.
SOLUTION: Amorphous silica particles of a regular shape having ≥400m2/g specific surface area and ≥0.10ml/g pore volume and practically free form macropores are fired at 300-1,300°C without deteriorating the shape of the particles. In other way, at least one kind of metal selected from among alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, Ti, Zr, Al and Zn is stuck to the amorphous silica particles by about ≤15wt.% (expressed in terms of oxide) and the particles are dried and fired. The resultant pore controlled amorphous silica particles of a regular shape have 3-60m2/g specific surface area and 0.3-1.2g/ml bulk density and the pores have been controlled so that the equilibrium moisture content at 75% relative humidity is regulated to ≤10%.
