Title:
ANTI-FOGGING GLASS LENS AND ITS ANTI-FOGGING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09230107
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To prevent the fogging of a glass lens surface by the condensed water of moisture and/or water drops by providing this glass lens surface with a surface layer contg. transparent photocatalytic titanium oxide particles.

The layer contg. photocatalysts is formed on the surface of a base material. The glass lens surface is made highly hydrophilic according to the photoexcitation of the photocatalysts by having such surface structure. As a result, even if the moisture of the atmosphere condenses and sticks to the glass surface, the condensed moisture does not grow to the form of water drops and turns to the form of a uniform water film. The fogging of the glass surface by the condensed water of moisture and/or the water drops is prevented. In the case of Fig., the glass lens surface has a metallic element M and the extreme surface consists of a general inorg. oxide. This oxide exhibits hydrophilicity in the state that the contaminants in the environment are not adsorbed. The oxide expels these contaminants by the photoexcitation of the photocatalytic titanium oxide incorporated into the surface layer exclusive of the inorg. oxide and is capable of forming the a uniform water film by forming adsorbed water layer.
