Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a long acting antibacterial, antifungal and deodorant staple fiber having hydrophilic nature by fixing a composition composed of a specified antibacterial compound and a cellulosic fine powder to a conjugate staple fiber of ≤a specified fineness.

CONSTITUTION: A cellulosic fine powder-containing suspension s added to an aqueous acetate solution of a deacetylated chitin compound (e.g. chitosan) and uniformly mixed. Staple fibers made of a thermoplastic polymer are subsequently spray coated with the resultant treatment solution and dried to obtain the objective long acting antibacterial, antifungal, deodorant and hydrophilic fiber excellent in durability and showing antibacterial, antifungal and deodorizing properties. Suitable for a clothing material, a bed sheet for a hospital, a pillow cover, etc., free from toxicity and remarkably excellent in safety.
