Abstract:

To provide a method for forming a hydrophilic coating for highly hydrophilicizing the surface of a substrate and provide a coating composition for the coating method.

The coating composition contains a coating film forming element to form a coating film of a silicone resin according to the curing and particles of a photocatalyst dispersed in the coating film forming element. The antifogging member having highly hydrophilicized coating film surface is produced by applying the coating composition to a substrate, curing the composition to form a coating film of the silicone resin, and exciting the photocatalyst with light to substitute the organic group bonded to the silicon atom of the silicone molecule on the surface of the coating film with hydroxyl group by the photocatalytic action in the presence of water.
