To obtain an antioxidizing medicine containing a specific dihydropyridine derivative as an active ingredient, having an excellent antioxidizing action, especially an action for inhibiting the peroxidation reactions of lipids such as phospholipid, and capable of protecting various tissue cells from disorders accompanying ischemia and the reperfusion of blood vessels.

This medicine contains at lest one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of a dihydropyridine derivative of the formula (R1-R3 are each a lower alkyl; A is a 2-6C unsaturated linear hydrocarbon residue) and its salts. Methyl 3-phenyl-2(E)-propenyl 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(3- nitrophenyl)pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate and its salt are especially preferable among the compound of the formula. The compound is preferably administered at a daily dose of 0.06-10mg/kg of body weight, and is preferably contained in an amount of 1-500mg as the active ingredient in an administration unit form.
