PURPOSE: To forge a high-speed steel having a small coefft. of friction without rotational slipping by increasing the face angle of the rolling reduction faces of the anvil for 4-face forging and decreasing the entry angle of an entry face.
CONSTITUTION: The anvil 1 used for 4-face forging of a bar-shaped forging material 2 by simultaneously rolling reduction the anvil 1 from the four directions of the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the forging material 2 is formed with the rolling reduction faces 11 inclined at the face angle α within a 4.5 to 6° range with the face perpendicular to the rolling reduction directions of the anvil 1. In addition, the entry face A on one side of the anvil 1 forms the slope ranging 4 to 6° entry angle. The generation of the rotational slipping by the excessive loading of the forging material 2 is prevented in such a manner.
