Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accurately measure the trace amount of water for fast cell responding time by supplying a current in either direction via a Peltier heater and cooler, and maintaining a phosphoric acid moisture sensitive cell at a desired temperature.

CONSTITUTION: The first and second heat transfer surfaces 26, 27 of a Peltier heater and cooler 24 disposed between thermal conductive surfaces 18 and 22 of a heat sink 14 and radiator 20 are brought into contact with the sink 14 and radiator 20. DC current is supplied to conductors 29, 30 in either of two directions via the cooler 24 to heat transfer from surface 26 to surface 27 in one direction and vice versa in the other direction. In this selection, the surface 26 (27) is heated, the other surface 27 (26) is cooled, the sink 14 is set to desired temperature, and a phosphoric acid moisture sensitive cell 32 of the heat contact state is always maintained at the same temperature. When wet gas is introduced from a wet gas source 12 into the cell 32, the moisture in the wet gas changes the electric resistance of the acid in the cell 32, and the flowing current is measured as the ratio of the moisture in the wet gas by a measuring unit 46.
