PURPOSE:To remove the error of the detected data of the present position of a vehicle which are detected with a bearing sensor, a distance sensor and the like accurately by expanding a specified region when there are no data of roads in the specified region. CONSTITUTION:When there are no road data even if a specified region F (shaded part) having a specified radius (r) with a preset detected vehicle position B3 as the center is searched, the expanding processing for further expanding the specified region F2 is performed. The present detected vehicle position B3 is moved by the specified position in the computed advancing direction D of a the vehicle before turning. The road data with in a specified region F3 in a present detected vehicle advancing direction D1 at the same specified radius (r) described above with the moved present detected vehicle position B4 as the center are searched. When there are no road data even if the inside of the expanded region F3 is searched, the present detected vehicle position is moved to the position of B5 which is symmetrical with respect to the above described B4 with the above described B3 as the center.
