To provide an apparatus for investigating attached organisms and a method for investigating the attached organisms by which inflow conditions of the attached organisms into intake channels or pipelines of seawater-utilizing plants can simply be investigated.
The apparatus (8) for investigating the attached organisms is an apparatus for investigating living conditions of each Balanus amphitrite (71) attached to rock surfaces, wall surfaces, or the like in seawater. The apparatus includes: a transparent glass plate (25) having a contact surface with seawater where Balanus amphitrite (71) can be present; a CCD (charge-coupled device) camera (15) for picking up an image of the contact surface from the opposite side thereof, and producing the image thereof; and counting means (16) for the attached organisms for counting the Balanus amphitrite (71) on the image, and carrying out output thereof.
