A controller 20 for managing asynchronous transmission among a plurality of nodes connected to a serial bus detects each of the unique IDs of transmission and reception nodes connected to the serial bus, and stores the detected unique IDs of the transmission and reception nodes to the PRO 24 and CON 25 of a RAM 23. On the occurrence of a bus reset, the controller 20 detects the unique ID of each node connected to the serial bus, compares the unique ID with the unique ID stored in the RAM 23, and outputs a transmission request to the transmission node when the detected unique ID is coincident with the unique ID (PRO 24) of the transmission node, and outputs a reception request to the reception node when the detected unique ID is coincident with the unique ID (CON 25) of the reception node.
