Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a mass flow rate of a powder without being influenced by a type or physical properties of the powder and improve efficiency of a static powder- coating apparatus, by letting a measurement gas jetted out from a dispersion means as a thin laminar, high-speed jet flow intersect and disperse the powder.
SOLUTION: A powder 32 in a hopper 31 which is fluidized by a compressed air 34 is moved upward in a powder introduction means 5 through a suction pipe 36. A measurement gas 2 of a regulated flow rate is supplied to a dispersion means 3 to intersect and mingle with the powder as a thin laminar, high-speed jet flow from the outer circumference to the center of the columnar powder rising in the introduction means 5 through a thin slit 4. A terminal end of the columnar powder is separated to thin layers by the shearing and turbulent flow and therefore, the powder is turned to a dispersed suspended state to be blown into a measurement tube 1. A fixed linear relationship is held at this time between a pressure difference of an inlet 7 and an outlet 8 of the measurement tube 1 and a mass flow rate of the powder paint passing through the measurement tube 1 irrespective of a type and physical properties of the powder. Accordingly, the mass flow rate can be measured.
