Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain various performances required for a protective film such as transparency, UV-shielding property, light resistance, heat resistance, non- orientation, surface hardness and adhesion property to a polarizing element by forming a film having specified water absorption, moisture permeability, folding endurance and transmittance for rays and showing substantially no orientation.
SOLUTION: The water absorption of the film is controlled to ≤0.1 wt.%, preferably ≤0.05 wt.%, and more preferably ≤0.01 wt.%. The moisture permeability is controlled to ≤150 g/m2.24 hr, preferably ≤30 g/m2.24 hr, and more preferably ≤5 g/m2.24 hr. The folding endurance is ≥500 times, preferably ≥750 times, and more preferably ≥1000 times. The transmittance for rays is ≥90.0%, preferably ≥91.0%, and more preferably ≥91.5%. The protective film is preferably substantially non-oriented. Namely, since the film is not subjected to a process of molecular orientation such as a stretching process, accurate alignment of the orientation direction of a polarizing element is not required when the film is laminated with the polarizing element.
