Abstract:
To improve exhaust emission control performance by executing deoxidation treatment for a nitrogen oxide at timing when exhaust emission control properly functions in an internal combustion engine.
When an engine ECU determines that an engine rotates by itself (YES at S100), and catalyst temperature is a predetermined temperature T(0) or higher (YES at S102), the engine ECU executes a program including a step (S104) for estimating a NOx storage amount and a step (S108) for executing NOx deoxidation treatment when the estimated NOx storage amount is the predetermined amount or larger (YES at S106).
