To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing press-formed articles using, for example, a high-strength metal plate as a blank to be formed and also having excellent dimensional accuracy.
By using a manufacturing apparatus 12 on which a plurality of embossing pins 16 for embossing a blank 20 when applying the press forming to the blank 20 are provided freely attachably and detachably on either of the tip surface 13a of a punch 13 and the opposite surface 14a of a die 14 opposed to this tip surface 13a, the press forming of the blank 20 is performed by mounting a plurality of the embossing pins 16 on either of the punch 13 and the die 14 so as to decide installation density and installation height. The installation density and the installation height of a plurality of the embossing pins 16 for suppressing the degree of the camber or the twist of the press formed article within the tolerance are decided by performing the press forming and embossing one or more times after changing the installation density and the installation height of a plurality of the embossing pins 16 by detaching and attaching part or all of a plurality of the embossing pins 16.
