An annotation setting part 503 receives the setting of position information associated with annotation for at least one image data, among the image data captured by the microscope, respectively, at a plurality of different positions in an optical axis direction of the microscope of one observation object, from a user. A display processing part 505 synthesizes the annotation display information visually reflecting the position information associated with the annotation for at least one image data, which is set by the annotation setting part 503, to the image data selected. A display part 106 displays the image data with the annotation display information synthesized therewith.
