Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for production of a powder for magnets which are for production of a powder for magnets from a quenching thin ribbon, achieve excellent cooling properties of the powder for magnets and can suppress formation of coarse particles of the powder for magnets.SOLUTION: An apparatus for production of a powder for magnets includes a melting furnace 1 storing a molten material of a magnet composition, a cooling roll 2 which carries out primary cooling of the molten material discharged from the melting furnace 1 to form a quenching thin ribbon R and a cooling plate 3 on which the quenching thin ribbon R scattered from the cooling roll 2 impinges and which carries out secondary cooling of the quenching thin ribbon R by the impingement and crushes the quenching thin ribbon R to form a powder for magnets F. The cooling plate 3 is provided with an angle adjustment part 4a to make the angle of the cooling plate 3 variable.
