The apparatus for treating the sludge 1' comprises a first crusher 6 for crushing a solid substance in the screenings containing sludge into a smaller particle, the centrifugal dewatering machine 8 for receiving the screenings containing sludge crushed by the first crusher 6 to concentrate it, a second crusher 9 for receiving the screenings containing sludge dewatered by this centrifugal dewatering machine 8 to crush it, a pretreatment tank 11 for receiving the screenings containing sludge crushed by the second crusher 9 to easily digest it, and a digestion tank 12 for fermenting a pre-treated liquid pre-treated in this pretreatment tank 11 to generate methane.
