To provide an apparatus and method for treatment of rainfall runoff, using a non-powered backwashing system, capable of maximizing an operation life of the apparatus by physically filtering non-point source pollutants to efficiently remove and also enabling backwash of a filter element without supplying another power.
The apparatus includes a filtration tank 200 for filtering rainfall runoff. The filtration tank includes: a first filtering tank 210 for filtering the rainfall runoff flowed in from a storing/flowing tank 100 as an upflow; and a second filtering tank 220 for filtering as a downflow, the rainfall runoff passed through the first filtering tank. A first filter element layer 221 is provided in the first filtering tank, and ascends or descends accompanying with rising or lowering of the water level in the first filtering tank. The backwashing air inlet spatially connecting the storing/flowing tank with the first filtering tank is provided at one side of the first filtering tank, and the air of the storing/flowing tank is supplied inside the first filtering tank from the backwashing air inlet selectively depending on the water level in the storing/flowing tank.
