To provide an apparatus for processing organic waste and the like that can easily drain water generated in a processing step out of a vessel, for the purpose of solving the problem that the organic waste agitated and processed often adheres to an inlet port of a drain pipe for draining the water generated in a processing step installed in an apparatus for processing organic waste to clog the pipe.

The apparatus 1 for processing organic waste is equipped with a discharge opening 22 for processed waste at the center of the bottom of a vessel 2, and water generated in a processing step is drained from the discharge opening 22. The organic waste under processing is prevented from flowing outside by a net 27 installed in the discharge opening 22. An impeller blade 4 and another impeller blade 4a having an inverse pitch to each other for stirring the organic waste is rotated so that the tips 41 of the impeller blades 4/4a slide on the surface of the net 27. Thus, the water generated in the processing step is forced toward the discharge opening 22 and drained off through the opening. As the net 27 in the discharge opening 22 is always cleaned by the tips 41 of the impeller blades 4/4a, the net 27 is prevented from being clogged with the organic waste under processing.
