Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing semi-solidified metallic slurry which can easily produce and discharge the high quality semi-solidified metallic slurry for a short time and has excellent connection with a subsequent process.
SOLUTION: The lower end part of a sleeve 2 is closed with a stopper 3 and molten metal M is poured from the upper end side of the sleeve 2. Electromagnetic field in such degree as not to form the initial stage solidified layer, is impressed to the molten metal M in the sleeve 2 with a coil device 11 for impressing the electromagnetic field in a stirring unit 1. At the time point, when crystal nuclei are generated in the molten metal M poured in the sleeve 2, the impression of the electromagnetic field with the stirring unit 1, is completed with an electromagnetic field impression adjusting means 16. The molten metal M in the sleeve 2 is formed as the semi-solidified metallic slurry and then, the lower end side of the sleeve 2 is opened by driving the stopper 3 so that the semi-solidified metallic slurry in the sleeve 2 drops down with the dead weight.
