PURPOSE: To obtain the titled apparatus capable of closing a cooling system and enabling the recovery of produced gas, by placing a high-temperature coke supplying means above a circular grate circulating on a caterpillar, covering the top and the bottom of the supplying means and providing a water-seal apparatus, cooling water spraying means and a gas extraction port.
CONSTITUTION: High-temperature coke 2 is closed in a quenching and cooling system comprising a high-temperature coke quenching apparatus composed of a feeding hopper 1 of high-temperature coke 2 placed above each circular grate 4 circulating along a circular caterpillar, an upper hood 6 and a lower hood 8 covering the top and the bottom of the circular grate 4, a water-seal apparatus 15 placed between the hoods and a cooling water-spraying means 13 and a gas extraction port 9 placed in the upper hood 6. In the above system, the high-temperature coke 2 is quenched with a cooling gas supplied from a cooling water tank 25 and sprayed from a cooling water spray 13 and the produced combustible water gas is extracted through the gas extraction port 9 and scrubbed and recovered in a cooling water washing tank 20. The high- temperature coke can be quenched by this process in high efficiency.
