PURPOSE: To improve the treatment efficiency by increasing the treatment capacity of steam and, at the same time, to effectively utilize cooling water by utilizing cooling water for recovering cypress oil.
CONSTITUTION: A cooling section 40, which cools steam contg. a cypress oil component contained in a cypress material as a raw material to bring the steam to a liq. contg. a cypress oil, comprises a plurality of spirally wound cooling pipes 45 throught which steam discharged from a delivery pipe 46 is passed, the pipes being laid within a water tank 41. A separation section 50 whcih separates and recovers a cypress oil from the liq. cooled in the cooling section 40 comprises: a recovery vessel 51 for receiving the liq. discharged through a discharge pipe 47 connected to the cooling pipes 45; a separated water discharge pipe 52, opened and closed by means of a first valve V1, through which water W separated within the recovery vessel 51 is discharged; a cypress oil discharge pipe 53, closed and opened by means of a second valve V2, throught which a cypress oil C separated in the recovery vessel 51 is discharged; and a water feed pipe 51, closed and opened by means of a third valve V3, which water contained in the water tank 41 is fed from the water tank 41 in the cooling section 40 into the bottom in the interior of the recovery vessel 51.
