PURPOSE: To prevent the stripping and falling-off lubricant in accordance with heating for rolling by removing a mill scale on the surface of a material to be rolled before the lubricant for hot rolling tube is applied on the surface of material to be rolled.

CONSTITUTION: The lubricant for hot rolling tube which the base agent comprising essentially of metallic oxide is mixed with a binder is applyed on the surface of the material to be rolled. In such a case, the lubricant should be applied on the surface where the mill scale on the surface of the material to be rolled is removed. In this way, the surface roughness of the surface where lubricant is applied is good, adhesion when applying is excellent and also the oxidization itself of metallic part due to heating for rolling is restrained. Thus, in the case the material to be rolled is a plain steel or alloy steel which alloy components are more than a stainless steel, the falling-off of lubricant in accordance with stripping of scale is deterred and excellent lubricating effect is obtained because the sufficient quantity of lubricant for rolling is supplied.
