To obtain an aqueous coating composition consisting mainly of a water soluble organopolysiloxane, excellent in safety and room temperature-curing property, also having a good blocking property and waterproof property of its coated film, without having slide and stickiness, and capable of being removed by cleaning with an alkaline solution, to provide a method for producing the same, and an article formed with the cured coated film of the aqueous coating composition.
The aqueous coating composition contains [II] the organopolysiloxane having 100-10,000 weight-average molecular weight and containing ≥2 hydroxy groups originating from the ring opening of epoxy group of the following X in one molecule and obtained by hydrolyzing [I] a hydrolyzable silane expressed by the formula (1): XR1qSiR23-q [wherein, R1 is an alkyl or an aryl: R2 is an alkoxy or an acyloxy; X is an epoxy group-containing organic group; and (q) is 0 or 1] and a hydrolyzable silane expressed by the formula (1): R3rSi(R4)4-r [wherein, R4 is an alkoxy or acyloxy; and (r) is 0, 1 or 2] in the presence of an acid catalyst, and water as essential components, and is characterized in that the organopolysiloxane is dissolved or dispersed in water.
