To provide an aq. emulsion adhesive compsn. for a polyolefin which has better adhesion than conventional aq. emulsion adhesive compsns., excellent mixing stability, and storage stability, and good mechanical suitability by incorporating a nitrogen-contg. resin and rosin and/or terpene into an aq. emulsion adhesive compsn., for a polyolefin, contg. a vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer emulsion (AE).
A nitrogen-contg. resin in an amt. of 0.1 to 10 pts.wt. and 5 to 50 pts.wt. rosin and/or terpene are added to 100 pts.wt. AE. Nitrogen-contg. resins usable herein include, e.g. polyethyleneimine and polyamideamine. Since these resins are strongly alkaline, neutralization with an acid is pref. Acid neutralizers usable herein include sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. Rosin has higher adhesion improving effect and hence is more pref. than terpene. Stabilized rosin (e.g. hydrogenated, disproportionated, or polymerized) rosin is more pref. than raw rosin. The terpene as such may be utilized for a reaction with the nitrogen-contg. resin without any problem.
