To obtain an aqueous resin by a method which can dispense with the solvent removal step, and also an ink comprising the same resin, useful for films and paper.

This resin is obtained by producing a polyurethane not in a normally used urethane-synthesizing solvent but in an unsaturated monomer, which contains, as the essential component, the unsaturated monomer having at least two hydroxyl groups and an unsaturated group in the molecule, and dispersing the polyurethane in an aqueous solution of an organic solvent having a hydroxyl group. In other words, it is obtained by polymerizing the water dispersion of the unsaturated monomer solution for producing polyurethane. The objective ink comprises the above aqueous resin.
