Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide another magnetic field to eliminate outward deviation of an arc discharge at an arc generation point being affected by a magnetic field of a feeder circuit in a DC arc furnace.
SOLUTION: In a DC arc furnace 5, a voltage is applied between a mobile electrode 6 set in a furnace and a furnace to melt matters to be melted in the furnace by a DC arc generated by the mobile electrode 6. A feeder device 2 for supplying applied voltage is connected between the mobile electrode 6 and the DC arc furnace 5 by a conductor 3 for supplying power to form a feeder circuit. An auxiliary coil 8 is provided to generate a magnetic field B2 in the direction of canceling a magnetic field B1 generated at an arc generation point of the mobile electrode 6 by the conductor 3 for supplying power.
