Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seizure resistant rolling bearing which well functions even under a severe condition of boundary lubrication without changing roughness of a metal surface, by forming a compound layer, having large binding force to the metal and oiliness improving effect, in the metal surface of the rolling bearing.
SOLUTION: A reaction layer having seizure resistance, in which the first layer consists of a phosphorus compound layer mainly composed of a concerned metal component, oxygen and phosphorus and the second layer consists of an oxygen compound layer mainly composed of the concerned metal component and phosphorus, is formed by heat decomposition reaction in a metal surface of a rolling bearing. In this way, deterioration of metal surface roughness is prevented by the first layer, and seizure resistance is ensured by the second layer.
