PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time needed to measure visual characteristics of a user.SOLUTION: An arithmetic processing unit comprises: selection means of letting a user select a color chart meeting a predetermined condition for a reference color out of a plurality of different color charts displayed on a display device; determination means of determining, as color charts to be displayed on the display device next, the color chart selected by the user and one or a plurality of color charts having color differences from the color chart; calculation means of calculating the visual characteristics of the user based upon the determination on the color chart by the determination means and history information as information regarding a result obtained by letting the user make a choice repeatedly a plurality of times, the determination means changing color charts displayed on the display device based upon the history information if it is determined that color charts selected by the user do not converge on one.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
